Ask any mother and she will tell you that her children are both the light of her life and her daily struggle. Raising the future leaders and pioneers of this world is tough! We find that raising daughters can be particularly challenging. Society seems to have so many requirements for women. Women must be a million things in one small package. It can be a daunting task to raise confident, strong and independent women in a society that seeks to divide and tell women “you aren’t enough.” This is precisely why we want to highlight some bright, beautiful, and powerful young ladies who are being raised by strong women.

The lessons that the women in their lives will pass on to them will help build their confidence and inner strength for years to come. Through overcoming adversity and standing up for oneself and others, women are able to build strong foundations for themselves that stand the test of time.  We are coming up on the 100th anniversary of women successfully fighting for the right to vote. This never would have been possible if women did not stand together and fight for their rights. Imagine if our great grandmothers and their mothers could see all that we have accomplished together.

As women, we should be a symbol of strength and encouragement for one another. Having a group of strong women was vital when it came to marriage, birthing and raising children, and advancing oneself whether academically, or professionally. Every successful woman in the world has had a coalition of mothers, sisters, and grandmothers to have her back. Whether you are a mother, sister, aunt, stepmother, grandmother, or a family friend in a young girls life; you have an obligation to support and encourage strength in our future leaders.

However, we are the most excited that Jodi Lynn had her baby!

Welcome, Saylor Mae!

Jodi Lynn, her husband, and daughter welcomed Saylor Mae, a healthy, beautiful, baby girl on March 14, 2019 at 3:18 P.M., after 17 hours in labor — worth every minute, but eek! Saylor Mae was born 8 pounds and 20 ¾ inches, with a full head of soft, luscious baby hair and the sweetest baby face.

An Unforgettable Delivery Experience

Jodi Lynn was able to stick to her birth plan — a VBAC delivery, vaginal birth after cesarean. The experience of giving birth to her baby girl naturally was everything that she hoped it would be and was thankful to have a midwife and doula by her side every step of the way.

The midwives of Willow Birth Center Arizona helped Jodi Lynn and her family bring Saylor Mae into the world and Jodi Lynn could not have asked for a better experience. Offering comprehensive, individualized care, the midwives of Willow Birth Center helped Jodi Lynn find the right birth plan for her and her daughter and provided the care and support during the delivery process. Their passion for providing the best care and experience was evident throughout the entire preparation and delivery process.

Doula By Design also played a major role in providing Jodi Lynn and her family the care and support they needed as Saylor Mae was born. The passion of Jodi Lynn’s doula for supporting women during one of their most memorable experiences of their life was very evident, and the birth experience Jodi Lynn and her family hoped for.

Bringing Saylor Mae into the world wouldn’t have been the same without the help of our midwife and doula — thank you!

Welcome back to the Photography By Jodi Lynn blog! Today, we will explore the importance of tween to teen photo sessions, and why these years are so important to capture in photographs.  There are many different changes that occur between the tween years (preadolescents aged 9-14) and the teen years. From changes in opinions, behaviors, attitudes, friends, and interests to the physical transformations that occur with the onset of puberty, these years are some of the most formative years in boys’ and girls’ lives. Ask just about anyone of adult age, and most people will say that these years were some of the toughest years of their lives. However, this is also a time where we start developing our individuality, building lasting relationships, and really begin to come into our own.

As a long-time portrait photographer in Arizona, we do many photography sessions that capture children as either young kids or seniors in high school, but we tend to miss those middle years, which are so important.
