Spring as Sweet as Tea 

Spring has definitely hit here in Arizona. With our early 80 degree weather and practically no winter (except for that weird day of random snow?!), Arizona is back to warming up again. This is such a great time though because let’s be real, that 80 degree sweet spot feels amazing! It’s when it starts to get above that 95 mark when we really start to dread the heat we know is coming. I know I personally dream of more pool days again. When it comes to family portraits, this is the literal perfect time to get the kids together and snap a family moment in time! 

 

 

Gorgeous Arizona Landscapes

Everyone is taking their activities to the outdoors right now and we are on the exact same wave. Spring family photos are some of our favorite types of portrait sessions! Pastels, florals, and fresh air. There are so many gorgeous views around Phoenix that we love to visit for Spring family photos. First, the Lost Dutchman State Park is an all-time favorite! Mornings here are filled with native plant blooms, birds, little animal friends, and gorgeous geologic structures like the Superstition Mountains. We love this location because not only are there perfect backdrops but there is so much to learn and interact with! There is never a dull moment at Lost Dutchman State Park! After your session, take the family to Goldfield Ghost Town for lunch! 

 

 

Fun and Exciting Arizona Family Portraits 

Right next to the botanical gardens is another favorite location, Papago Park. Papago Park is home to hole in the rock as well as various bodies of water and perfect desert mountain landscape backdrops. A short climb up to hole in the rock will reveal a great view of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe! Similarly, this awesome family’s session was in North Scottsdale, up in the beautiful boulders. Jodi Lynn has been photographing this glowing mama since before she was even pregnant with her littles! She loves that she has gotten to see them grow and work with this family for so long now. That is what this business is all about, getting to know these sweet families and watch their tribe grow.

For this session, we met up with Ms. L and her parents at our stunning, lush, green outdoor location. Although initially very shy, Ms. L really blossomed as the session progressed. It was clear from her choice of wardrobe that she felt at home among the greenery. Comfortable and calm, she was able to garner some confidence and by the end of the session, could not wait to come back!

The 2018 school year is coming to an end, and our seniors this year will be starting a new venture in their lives! At Photography by Jodi Lynn, we specialize in capturing fun portraits for our seniors! Traci and Jodi Lynn create fun sessions that reflect our clients’ personalities. For this senior session we were able to get creative with the desert backdrop, as we were able to meet him near his home with his moto-bike to personalize the session even more.  He loves riding on two wheels and that matched is edgy, cool and fun personality. We are super proud that he is also aspiring to be a police officer, we cannot wait to see where life takes him!

At Photography by Jodi Lynn and Co, senior portraits are some of our favorite sessions. These photographs are almost like that little shoe-box you keep on the top shelf in your closet of all the letters from your friends, and when you’re cleaning your room you open it and look back on all those memories. When you find the picture, you’re taken right back to your senior year and you can see how far you’ve come since then. We absolutely love being able to capture the excitement in our seniors before they make their transition into adulthood.

OUTDOOR SENIOR SESSION IN DOWNTOWN PHOENIX

In Arizona, outdoor senior portraits are so amazing simply for the fact that it’s 60 degrees and sunny. We met up with Brian and his parents at one of our favorite spots in Downtown Phoenix. We decided to use the brick background for his session because it complemented his simple, but classic style. He really likes the laid-back feel, and he was able to express that by wearing his favorite shoes from Vans, polo and his favorite pants. Not only did his outfit compliment his personality at his session, but his spunky outgoing personality really shines through in each picture. During our session with him, he REALLY kept us on our toes, he was making us laugh the entire time.

At Photography by Jodi Lynn & Co, we know choosing what you wear to your Senior Session is kind of a big deal. After all you are going to be looking at these photos for years to come. And even if you don’t care about fashion, we know you’ll want to look great at your Arizona senior portraits! These portraits are all about YOU. They are supposed to highlight your personality, interests, and style at this point in your life. So, here are some tips and tricks that can help you look your best at your senior photo shoot.

Outfit Tips for Your Senior Photo Shoot

Tip 1:

 Incorporating your own sense of fashion is important, but wearing something that you aren’t going to regret is important as well. Wearing neutral colors like beige, ivory, grey, black, or blue, always photograph well and allow the attention to go back to where it is supposed to be – on you! If you want to add more color to compliment the background you can always add fun accessories like colorful shoes, or a bold necklace.

Tip #2:

These are once in a lifetime images. You’re not going to have another senior portrait session. For all our senior sessions, you can have up to 3 outfit changes. So, our suggestion is to bring one outfit that is more formal. You don’t have to wear a suit and tie or ball gown but just think of your “Sunday’s best” and wear a pretty dress or nice pair of slacks. A formal outfit is perfect for mixing it up from your everyday wear and adds a little extra glam to your senior photography session that mom and dad will love!

Tip #3:

Be comfortable! This is probably the most important tip we have for you. Don’t go shopping and pick something you’re not sure about. If you look in the mirror, and you don’t think it works for you, don’t bring it. These photos are about capturing you. You should feel relaxed and comfortable in what you chose to wear. Especially since you’ll be sitting on the ground, possibly climbing on things, jumping, and more during your senior shoot!
